In his bid to boost food production in the state, the Chairman of Ivo local government area of Ebonyi state, Chief Emmanuel Ajah said he has distributed over 18,000 farm input to farmers.

The inputs included over, 1000 Cartons of spraying machines, 3000 bags of of fertilisers, 5000 Cartons of agro chemicals, rice seedlings of different species and other inputs.

Ajah said the distribution was to assist farmers in the 2024 farming season and boost food production in the area.

"It is my avowed commitment to leave no stone unturned in terms of Agricultural facelift in my council.

"My people here are farmers though we are blessed with some mineral resources but the major occupation of the people here is farming.

" In Ivo LGA, we grow Cucumber, Watermelon , Okro. Akaeze community for instance is known for farming Okro. We farm Cassava, Maize, Yam among other crops.

"But I have decided to make farming easier for my people considering the economic situation in the country. It is hard for families to feed these days so without government intervention, farming will be difficult for the people.

"My government is not just providing agricultural input for the farming season but for All round season and we have provided them with fertilisers for that purpose.

"This is to see that as an LGA in an agrarian state, we produce enough food to sustain us and to export to other part of the country", he said.ENDS
