Breaking: Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo Shatters Half-Marathon World Record!

Twenty-four-year-old Jacob Kiplimo has etched his name into athletics history, smashing the world half-marathon record in a blistering 56 minutes and 42 seconds. He obliterated the previous record of 57:30, set by Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha in Valencia last October, marking the most significant single improvement ever seen in the men's event.

"I'm incredibly excited!" exclaimed the former Olympic and World 10,000m bronze medalist. "I aimed for a great race, but breaking the world record? That was beyond my expectations."

Kiplimo's strategy was clear from the start. He surged ahead in the first two kilometers, creating a gap between himself and the competition. Realizing he was on record pace, he dug deep, determined to hold on, "no matter what it took."

Adding to his incredible feat, Kiplimo also set a world-best time of 39:47 for 15km during the race, which was held in ideal conditions: a cool 13ºC with no wind.

Fellow Ugandan Geoffrey Kamworor finished second (58:44), followed by Kenya's Samuel Mailu (59:40).
