Rivers United Still Eyeing NPFL Glory Despite Remo Stars Lead - Finidi George
Rivers United boss, Finidi George, has reiterated his team's commitment to chasing the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, insisting they remain firmly in the race despite a points gap.
Currently sitting second on the table, Rivers United are seven points adrift of league leaders Remo Stars with just four matches remaining in the campaign. While the odds appear stacked against them, Finidi believes the battle is far from over.
Speaking after his side’s latest outing, the former Super Eagles star emphasized a never-say-die attitude within his squad. "We have 12 points still up for grabs. Two of those matches are at home, and we are determined to fight till the end," Finidi said. "We want to make every point count and keep the pressure on Remo Stars."
The experienced tactician also acknowledged the challenge ahead, particularly in their next away clash against Kano Pillars, but maintained an optimistic tone. “We’ll go to Kano looking to pick up something. Nothing is over until it’s over,” he added with a confident smile.
Rivers United have had an impressive season under Finidi’s leadership, showing consistency and tactical discipline. Their strong home form has been a key factor in their title push, and they’ll be banking on it in the final stretch.
As the season draws to a dramatic close, all eyes will be on the title race between Rivers United and Remo Stars, with Finidi and his team determined to go the distance and possibly clinch a second league crown.
