The empowerment was for wives of police officers affected by the EndSARS protest and attacks by unknown persons.

The IGP's wife was in the State with a delegation of other high ranking Police Officers wives as part of her tour to states across Nigeria, to empower widows and promote her 3-Point vision for POWA which include: education, welfare, and health of police officer's wives and children, and, most importantly, reaching out to widows.

Equipment gifted to the fifty widows included sewing machines, multipurpose grinding machines, industrial hair dryers and food stuff.

The POWA President also made a donation to a community children's home in the state.

She acknowledged that there are difficulties associated with national service, especially in the Nigeria Police Force, where they require the support and encouragement of their wives to be able to give their best at all times in the face of numerous challenges.

The IGP's wife said that she looked forward to seeing police officers' wives and children live better, and pledged to check up on those empowered to ensure that they make effective use of the equipment to help their families.

She commended the IGP's wife for taking a different step in her capacity to motivate and change the face of the POWA.

Mrs Obiano also likened the IGP's wife's gesture to her CAFE's accomplishments, where attention to children, women and youths, especially the less privileged, has yielded immense results with over five thousand women and youths trained and empowered by her NGO, and over twenty eight free houses built for indigent widows in Anambra State, among others.

Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, Mr Chris Owolabi, Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs Lady Ndidi Mezue, wife of Deputy Inspector General of, Zone 9, Mrs Faustina Egbunike and Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Chieftaincy Matters and Community Relations, Barrister Vera-Queen Okonkwo, among others were present at the event.
