It was jubilation galore for residents of Stephen/Okosi Junction, at Inland town, Onitsha, Anambra State, as electricity was finally restored after enduring one year and three months of total blackout.

The power outage, which had plunged the area into darkness and hardship, was as a result of the vandalization of the transformer that supplied electricity to the community.

The long absence of power forced residents and business owners to depend on expensive and unreliable alternative power sources, severely affecting daily life and economic activities.

The Restoration of power sparked widespread excitement, as residents expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Emeka Idu, the member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, for his swift intervention.

According to community members, Hon. Idu promptly responded and offered much-needed support as soon as he was informed of the vandalization.

In his response, Hon. Emeka Idu represented by Hon. Ejor Ibuzo reassured the community of his commitment to their welfare, promising to further enhance security and prevent future vandalism by installing solar-powered street lights across the area.

"This development will not only help light up the neighborhood but will also deter criminal elements from tampering with critical infrastructure," Hon. Idu stated.

Residents, community leaders, and business owners welcomed the news, describing it as a step toward lasting peace and tranquility for the area.

To many, the restoration of electricity marks the end of months of hardship and the beginning of brighter days ahead.
